Dr. Sven Timm is Deputy Director, Main Prevention Department, for the Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung e.V. (DGUV), a Vision Zero ambassador and a passionate safety, health and well-being enthusiast.
He is an expert and lecturer in prevention strategies, systems, guidelines, campaigns and accident insurance, and has played a key role in European and international projects in prevention around the world, for EU COM, International Labour Organization (ILO), International Social Security Association (ISSA) and World Health Organization (WHO).
Sven’s key publications include Strengthening the Role of Employment Injury Schemes to Help Prevent Occupational Accidents and Diseases, ILO Report, and, as co-author, Country Profile of Occupational Health System in Germany, WHO, 2012, and ISSA Guidelines on Prevention of Occupational Risks, ISSA.
Sven’s honorary positions include membership of the Executive Committee – “Global Initiative for Safety and Wellbeing – Vision Zero for all”, Theme Week at EXPO 2025 Osaka, the Board of the VDSI – Association for Safety, Health and Environmental Protection at Work – International Department, the Board of the German Road Safety Council DVR, the International Scientific Panel of WorkingonSafety.net and the International Organising Committee of the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work for ISSA.
He has been Vice Chair of the ISSA Special Commission on Prevention and Vice President of the International Section of the ISSA on Information for Prevention and of the Section for a Culture of Prevention – International Social Security Association.
Sven was Project Leader responsible for the organisation of the “XX World Congress on Safety and Health at Work 2014: Global Forum for Prevention”, organised by DGUV, ILO and ISSA.
