Tomas Hinterseer is currently the Managing Director and President of the Board of CEDEP. He also runs leadership and safety seminars and workshops internationally.
Thomas obtained his law degree in Austria in 1987, and a master’s in law from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, European Community Law section. He went on to work for Schlumberger as general counsel in Singapore and Paris, and as Director of Marketing based in Paris and Houston. After the merger with Transocean in 2000, he served as General Manager for the Egypt and Mediterranean area based in Cairo, and then as Managing Director of the Gulf of Guinea/West Africa Division based in Nigeria.
From 2008 to 2013 he held senior positions in HR including at the Transocean Corporate Headquarters in Geneva and was an officer/director of Transocean for four years. Thomas was involved from the broader HR perspective in the follow-up of the Macondo accident in the Gulf of Mexico. He subsequently oversaw the sale of 37 drilling rigs to Shelf Drilling in 2013 and early 2014.
Since 2016 Thomas has initiated the transformation of CEDEP via a major reorganisation of its overall governance, the sale of its campus, the acquisition of two companies and the creation of a dedicated International Institute of Leadership and Safety.
